a glance on iranian policies for drug addiction treatment

چکیده

before the start of modern era in iran, opium had a particular importance in daily lives, medicine and, leisure of iranians. this trend even continued up to early years of the twentieth century and iran was a major producer of opium; almost 100 tons annually (karimi;2000). by administrating new tax rules regarding opium production, to determine governmental production and distribution only and permission of limited planting of poppy, controlled distribution of opium resin and national program of maintenance treatment, there was a new permission to produce opium in iran, so that about 33000 hectares of lands were under poppy planting in 1357. i will review drug policies of iran through the years, in the current article.
